Note: This class will be held virtually as a meeting

Explore the world of free and open source operating systems in a guided setup and install class. Laptops required to connect to this remote class, we will use Linode servers to learn some basic of linux and set up a web server that you can use for a personal website, etc. The Linodes will be free, as a promo code is included in this class.

Topics we will cover:

-Using the GUI for everyday use (demo)

-Basic command line (look like a computer hacker)

-Package management (a boring name for getting all the free software you can handle)

-Config files (make your operating system look and work the way you want!)

-Setting up a webserver

We will be using a Debian setting up an Apache web server. The class will run as part-lecture part-workshop.

Our teachers have experience working professionally with Linux and teaching it to beginners.
